How to Find the Answer

The question I hear over and over from people is, "Have I been here before?"

Sometimes it's more like a plea for reassurance; other times mere curiosity about reincarnation.

Most people who ask, though, have a sense of the answer already.

Although it's the same question, every person who asks it has their own, personal reason(s). Each person who asks also has a motivating force that fuels their search for information about their past lives.

And the best answers are those that are highly specific and important to you, as an individual, at this point in your present life.

It's worth taking a bit of time to clarify your search into your past lives before embarking on regressions.

Reasons for Asking

There are so many reasons for asking, "Have I been here before?"

You watch a movie set in the past and you feel a strong affinity for the place, the people, the costumes, or the politics.

You caught a rerun of the episode where Oprah interviews my teacher, Dr. Brian Weiss.

Have you asked: Have I Been Here Before?

You travel to a foreign country and pick up the speech with remarkable ease, or have a sense that you've walked the cobblestone streets before, or prayed in the ancient church.

You meet someone for the first time and are filled with a strong sense of deja vu.

You come upon a book on reincarnation and can't stop reading it.

You hear a tape from Edgar Cayce's ARC group.

You overhear a conversation about Eastern religions and beliefs about karma that fascinates you.

You have always "just had that feeling," tickling the deep recesses of your mind, that this isn't your first time here.

I was once looking through a book of art, just flipping through the pages with no particular purpose. Suddenly I stopped at an artist I'd never heard of before: Giorgione, a Venetian painter (c.1477-1510). Without a thought, I pointed to the woman on the hillside in The Tempest, and said, "Me!" with the simplicity and certainty of a child who points and says "chair" or "milk." No question in my mind.

All these situations and many more can be indications of the answer to your question, "Have I been here before?" And the answer is, most likely, "Yes, you have."

Why is this question so prevalent? Some of the reasons include:

a fear of death; the idea of reincarnation reassures you

your stress over finishing spiritual tasks, or mending fractured relationships decreases because you'll have another chance in your next life

if you don't find your soulmate in this lifetime, perhaps you'll spend your future life with him/her again

a pervasive feeling that you need to change your karma

The more you're in touch with your own higher self or your spirituality, the more you trust that you return over and over to learn lessons and advance yourself. You're among those who answer the question "Have I been here before?" with a resounding "Yes!"
