You may have come across the term twin flame soul mate in conversations about soul mates. What does it mean? More importantly - how do you find your one truest love?

Twin Flame soul mates are the two people whose souls are really one. It's generally believed that both members of this couple must be spiritually evolved to finally meet and come together as a permanent couple. It may take many reincarnations to reach this point.

During those past lives, you may know each other or not, have brief relationships, or even recognize each other as soul mates but not have that right-time-right-place opportunity.

Origin of Twin Flame Soulmates

• It is the Twin Flame that rejoins the separated original form described by Aristophanes in Plato's Symposium, from the times of the Ancient Greeks. This is the theory that humans originally possessed two faces, four arms, four legs, etc. The gods - with or without reason - decided to slice these powerful humans in half.
  
  

  

  This accounts for heterosexuality and homosexuality as preferences. Since we're always on that search for our "perfect" mate, for our "other half" - we'd lean toward someone that reminds us of them. For some of us it would be the opposite gender, for others the same gender.


• Another theory suggests that humans originated when God (whatever term you use) wanted to experience Him/Her self. In order to do so, the Divine divided into numerous souls, each of which divided again, and again. Eventually, the God-split divided a final time, creating Twin Souls. Each soul, therefore, carries that core God-origin within it. Connecting with your lost half brings you that much closer to the One.

Because you're Twin Souls, split from one soul-being, you might imagine that each person is half the soul, needing the other half to be complete. Not so.

Each person must grow and develop, learn and change individually, until each is a complete soul in and of themselves. Only then can the twins join together to form the one, which is more than the one.

We've now wandered into the place where more than one thing is true at the same time: you're half the original soul, but you're a whole soul.

This is the holographic universe, where each part contains the whole, and where the whole consists of all its parts - and more. You can see from this view that each of us, each soul, contains the spark of the Divine. Each pairing of those sparks brings us closer and closer to the Divine Oneness. Yet, the Divine Oneness remains larger than any combination of its many sparks.

That's one way of looking at it, anyway.

• Work through karma from past lives. A series of past life regression sessions based on this intention can speed the process.


• Pay any spiritual debts you might have accumulated. This can take a lot of time and work, so be sure you're willing to commit to this task.


• Face any of your ego-based emotions and actions, and leave them behind you. Psychotherapist are well-trained in helping you determine these traits, and guide you in working through them.


• Heal any wounds from abuse, fear, trauma, or other unresolved emotional issues. Again, you might want to see a psychotherapist for support in this personal development process.


• Commit to your life's purpose(s) and strive toward fulfilling them. When you meet your twin soul mate, you'll find added spiritual purpose to achieve as a couple.


• Practice unconditional love.

Isn't Always Easy

You will feel whole and completed in a way that's deeper and more fulfilling than in any other relationship. You'll know each other completely; you trust; you understand. Most likely the two of you will be on the same or similar life paths, especially on the spiritual level.

Be careful when you ask to meet your Twin Flame soul mate. Be sure you're ready to take on the special challenges and intense consequences that often accompany such a strong spiritual bond. Know that your life can change radically when the two of you connect.

There's great spiritual responsibility that comes with this special relationship. Often, before finding your Twin Flame, at least one of you experiences a "dark night of the soul," or spiritual transformation that isn't always comfortable. Even after meeting them, one or the other of you may go through a tough period of awakening. You may have to make some hard choices in life: leave some of your acquaintances; even move your home or change your career.

Also be careful not to leave behind those who love you, who you trust. Though you may have found that most important love connection, you don't need to isolate yourself from others who may also be your soulmates. Isolation in a relationship is a danger sign: be careful.

And remember that human life - even for Twin Flame soul mates - has its ups and downs. The difference is that you won't have to go through either the highs or lows alone.
