Why is Goal Setting Important?
How Goal Setting and Your Reincarnations Work Together on Your Road to Success
Isn't Past Lives Coaching about the cycle of reincarnation? Why is goal setting important in relation to past life regressions and future lives progressions?
Following are just a few of the answers to the question: Why is goal setting important?
Because the changes you want to achieve in your life are important...
...especially your spiritual goals, your karma cleansing objectives, and your pattern-changing determination. Setting goals gets you where you want to be: in your personal development, spiritual growth, and in all the other categories of your life. This includes finding your soul mate, creating your future life, clarifying your relationships, following a career path, and even having fun!
The importance of a life spent fulfilling your dreams is sometimes overlooked. Because people are connected, and because our energies are connected, going for your dreams is not a selfish act. (How you take steps on your road to success might be selfish, so take others into consideration as you progress.) Imagine for a moment the difference it would make in the world as a whole if we all determined the best goals for ourselves, then set out (in an aware, caring manner) to achieve them. So much of the frustration that engenders fear, hatred, anger, and jealousy would be gone. People would make decisions that affect others in a healthier manner. You get the idea, and your first answer to: Why is goal setting important? Setting goals for world peace on a macro level may not be for each of us...but if enough people are setting goals for peace in their own lives and local environment, we might just
change the world.
For more on setting goals, see the How to Set Goals page.
To determine, define, plan, act, and attain your purpose(s) in your present life.
First, be assured that your life does have purpose. You enter each reincarnation with a purpose (or more than one purpose since most of us aren't that enlightened yet!). The soul has learning to do; you as an individual have experiences to experience. Wrongs from past lives need attention and karma clearing requires some effort. You also carry the purpose of preparing for your
next life.
All of these are purposes, or goals. And all of these contribute to the answer to the question, Why is goal setting important?Sure, you can "go with the flow." Just hope the stream you've stepped in takes you to the ocean you'd like to end up in, and doesn't bash you against sharp rocks when you hit the rapids of life. Going with the flow works for some - probably those closest to "nirvana," if we can borrow the term. Unfortunately, most of us are still working toward that level of enlightenment. We need to use our intentions, and our actions, to accomplish the tasks of our present reincarnation. Otherwise, we accrue even more karma to cleanse in our next lifetimes.
People Don't Reach their Goals If They Don't Set Them
The "famous study" conducted at Yale or Harvard (both versions exist) that stated that the 3% of the graduates who earned more than the other 97% of the class had written their goals down - and that made all the difference...may or may not have existed. But a more recent study done at Dominican University proves that setting goals in writing does influence positive outcome. This is yet another answer to: Why is goal setting important? It's crucial to remember that just writing down a quick list of "I think I want this" items is not the goal setting I'm referring to here. That won't work. However, taking the time to determine what your goals really are, figuring out the steps you need to take to achieve them, and then taking action on them - that's what we're talking about by setting goals.
Think about goal setting as a map. If you don't know where you're starting from, and you don't know where you're going, and you have no idea how you're going to get there - well, chances are, you won't get there! Not even with a GPS. Defining your goals sets your inner mind working - the reticular activating system (your inner GPS) - toward your destination. You're more likely to notice opportunities and take them. You're also more likely to stay on track on your road to success.
To Get the Most Value From Your Past Life Regression Sessions
Before I conduct a past life regression or future lives progression with a client we talk about purpose and intention. What is your main purpose or intention in examining your reincarnations?
When you participate in a session you enter a timeless place that has no spatial boundaries. If you just wander around, sure, you'll have an experience. But you may not get much value from the session. You want to name a reason for your regression or progression: it determines which of your many past lives you'll visit, which of your possible futures you'll see, and will also fuel your inspiration and determination - two factors in the success of your past life regression session. Now that we've answered the question, Why is goal setting important, here's a sampling of possible goals you might want to consider for your past life adventures: - What is the origin of my recurring fear?
- What is the origin of my illness?
- Have I know my (name relationship: lover, mother, friend...) before? What was my relationship with them?
- What kind of karma am I carrying that needs to be cleared before I can grow spiritually?
- What are my relationship patterns all about?
For other suggestions, read through the
past life investigation
page. If you already have a list of goals, but are having trouble achieving them, you might want to frame your question something like: "What's in the way of attaining X goal?" Any of these, or similar questions, will direct your session so that you receive valuable guidance, information, and inspiration when you return to your present reincarnation.
